Code of Conduct

Last updated: 1 August 2026

Our standards

HappyToVolunteer wants volunteering communities to be respectful and constructive. This Code sets behavioural expectations for everyone on the Platform (volunteers, organisations, and visitors).

It is not a guarantee that every opportunity or person is safe, and it does not make HappyToVolunteer the supervisor of offline activities. Safety at events is the Organisation's responsibility; Volunteers must also exercise reasonable judgment. See our Terms of Use.

Expected behaviour

  • Show up on time or cancel early so someone else can help.
  • Follow event instructions and safety guidance.
  • Speak respectfully to organisers, teammates, and people you serve.
  • Use accurate information on profiles and listings.
  • Report emergencies and serious concerns promptly to the Organisation and, where needed, authorities.

Not allowed

  • Harassment, discrimination, or hate speech.
  • Sexual harassment, exploitation, or predatory behaviour - including toward minors or vulnerable persons.
  • Unsafe, illegal, or violent behaviour.
  • Spam, scams, or misleading donation details.
  • Misusing volunteer or organisation personal data.
  • Posting defamatory, infringing, or otherwise unlawful content.

Safeguarding

Organisations that work with children or vulnerable persons must have appropriate safeguarding measures (including supervision, parental consent where required, and clear reporting contacts). HappyToVolunteer does not replace those duties and does not supervise offline activities.

Enforcement

Violations may lead to warnings, suspension, or permanent account removal at our sole discretion. We may investigate as we consider appropriate but have no obligation to take any particular step. Serious safety or criminal concerns may be reported to relevant authorities. This Code supplements our Terms of Use.

How to report

Report concerns from an event or organisation page when available, or email happytovolunteerapp@gmail.com with what happened, when, and any links or screenshots that help. In an emergency, contact local emergency services first.
