How do I volunteer in Thailand?

HappyToVolunteer is a free way to book a local volunteer shift anywhere in Thailand. You filter by province, reserve a spot, and show up for a day or a weekend. The organisation runs the work. It is not a paid placement programme and not a host-stay travel site.

What is a volunteer shift?

An organisation publishes a shift with a date, a place, a role, and a number of spots. You book one. They may send a LINE reminder. At the door you show a QR code so your hours are recorded.

Typical work includes community kitchens, food distribution, cleanups, visits with older people, shelter support, and event-day help. The organisation runs the day. HappyToVolunteer is the booking page.

Where in Thailand can I volunteer?

Organisations list shifts in the province where they work. Open Browse events and choose your province. If a province is quiet this week, no approved organisation has published a shift yet.

Bangkok and central Thailand
The busiest set of day and weekend shifts, including Greater Bangkok. Students around Rangsit and Khlong Luang have their own guide. Bangkok guide
North
Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang, and nearby provinces. Filter the events list by province and read the venue before you book.
Northeast
Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Nakhon Ratchasima, Ubon Ratchathani, and the rest of Isaan. Same booking flow as Bangkok.
East
Chonburi, Pattaya, Rayong, and the eastern seaboard. Check the listing for language and how long the shift runs.
South
Phuket, Surat Thani, Songkhla, Krabi, and other southern provinces. Book only a shift you can reach on the day.
If your province is empty
That is a gap in published shifts, not a closed door. Organisations join after a short review. If you run a group, the tools page is the place to start. Tools for organisations

How do I book a shift?

  1. 1

    Open the events list

Filter by province or cause. Read the time, place, and what the organisation asks you to bring.

  2. 2

    Create a free account

Email or Google is enough. A university Google account works. Volunteers never pay a placement fee.

  3. 3

    Confirm the spot

You can cancel before the organisation’s deadline so someone on the waitlist can take it.

  4. 4

    Arrive and check in

Link LINE if you want a reminder. Show your QR code when you get there.

What else should I know?

Can I volunteer in Thailand if I do not speak Thai?

Often yes. Many listings are bilingual or say the language they need. Read that line before you book. Do not assume English is enough for every role.

I am visiting for a week. Can I still book?

Yes, if a published shift fits your dates and you can reach the venue. This is local day help, not a hosted stay.

Do volunteers pay?

No. Creating an account, browsing, and booking are free for volunteers.

How does an organisation get listed?

They register, we review the organisation, and a trial starts if it is a fit. Volunteers only see shifts from approved organisations.
